Over the past week, we’ve continued to push the University to properly support students with a more robust safety net policy, whilst also representing students at a range of University committees. Arts SU recognises the stigma and misinformation that can exist around conversations about Mental Health. We want all our members to feel supported and empowered to talk about their well-being and feel able to seek support or advice if needed during their time at UAL. Therefore it is so important we open conversations about Mental Health, highlight the amazing services that exist for students and highlight ways we can prioritise our wellbeing every day. An update on the things that the Students' Union have been lobbying the University for to help students get through the cost-of-living crisis. UAL students voted overwhelmingly to support the strike. The Xhibit Professional Development Day aims to bring together a collective of industry professionals to discuss their practice, troubleshoot and answer questions from students.

On the 29th November 2019, Warwick SU supported the Global Climate Strike by hosting a Climate Emergency briefing and Q&A panel led by University of Warwick academics. This preceded a march and mass sit-in at University house, in protest of the University's 'inaction' in its response to the climate crisis. The day then ended with a screening of 'Heading For Extinction ' in The Graduate, with a discussion led by an academic from the University. In Term 1's All Student Vote, students gave Warwick SU the backing to support UCU in their current strikes. UAL will experience industrial action later in November - read our short article to understand what this means and what the impact may be for students and study.
